Stephen coincided with the first anniversary at business’s first anniversary as the third CEO. The business was in distress after its £35m construction and it was breaking both private equity and bank covenants. Stephen inherited a profit of £750k in first year, before he took it to £2.3m in his first year in charge and then to £3.3m in the next year. This was a Tote-based betting business, which was in distress that Stephen was brought into to turn it around. Within a year, Stephen franchised/licensed out the operations in Russia, Georgia, Armenia, Lebanon and Ukraine. Stephen took the business through three refinancings and helped sell full control of the company to majority shareholder.
